IT’S ALIVE! Cultured Vegetables, Krauts, & Pickles—Tuesday, October 9, 6:00 pm – $40 per person.
Class hosts: Adam and Maggie Pounds with Simple Abundance Farm 

In this class, you will learn the art of preserving your harvest or farmers’ market finds in a way humans have used for thousands of years, using only salt, water, and time. We will teach you how salt, in combination with bacteria called lactic-acid fermentation, is an ideal way to preserve the bounty while retaining nutrients, adding probiotics, and most importantly creating new flavors! You will step away from this class understanding the science behind the brine process, a little history, the discovery of new flavors, and of course the steps involved to make your own sour krauts, pickles, and more. Not to mention, your own jar of fresh kraut to enjoy before you start your own creations!
